VAN FOREMAN

DEFINITION:

Under general SW Superintendent supervision is responsible for supervisory work in the area of litter control on highways and maintenance of rural garbage drop off points; other related work if required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Supervise and transport a group of laborers in litter control program; provides necessary supplies and equipment for daily work activities; responsible for accountability of laborers at all times; provide proper care and maintenance of vehicle; explains work procedures and methods to laborers; reviews work while in progress and upon completion; Assist with litter pickup; maintains constant watch over labor crew; possess good work safety habits and keep daily records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to effectively super- vise individuals and group basis; to deal with disciplinary and security problems; to follow oral and written instructions; and to keep records. Skills to operate and passenger type vehicle in a safe manner; some knowledge of Parish Prison Practices and Procedures. Ability to work with others and the general public.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent approved by Louisiana Department of Education

Training and Experience: None – Job training will be provided
