About Us

The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 was created for the citizens of Lincoln Parish in 1991. In the beginning, the Fire District was comprised of a group of dedicated citizens who volunteered their time and worked together as a team to assist others in times of trouble. These people could simply be described as "neighbors helping neighbors." It was the active volunteers who dedicated many hours annually to training and emergency response who are responsible for the successful creation of the fire district.

Today, the LPFD is a combination department consisting of both full-time staff and volunteer members. There are currently 13 paid, full-time employees of the Fire District, including 6 fire driver/operators, three captains, one district chief, the Fire Chief, his secretary and an Administrative Assistant. There are approximately 35 active volunteers with the Fire Protection District who come from all walks of life and who dedicate many hours annually to training and emergency response. They do this in order to provide the citizens of rural Lincoln Parish with the best fire protection possible. These full-time employees and volunteers are united with the common goal of helping others in times of need. Without them, there would be no Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District.

The men and women of the Lincoln Parish Fire District do far more than just fight fires. At a moments notice, they can be assembled together as a group to assist others in a variety of tasks:

  • They teach fire safety classes at local schools
  • They assist local authorities in locating lost people
  • They assist in cleaning up after storms that occur in the community
  • They provide assistance with automobile accidents
  • AND, they fight fires!

The volunteer men and women of the Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 give of themselves and ask for nothing in return. The only reward they receive is the satisfaction of having helped someone in a crisis situation.

The Fire District is governed by a seven member Board of Commissioners who are appointed by the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and the Town Councils of the incorporated areas within the District. This Commission is responsible for hiring the Fire Chief and an assistant. The Chief and his assistant answer to the Commission and are responsible for the daily operations of the fire department along with the training of its members.

The Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 proudly holds a Class 5 rating, as established by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL).
